Job description
The Riverside Mozart is an exceptional phenomenon. As one of the largest river cruise ships on the Danube, and certainly the most well-appointed, she knows – just like her famous namesake – how to captivate and constantly surprise her guests.
With 81 Suites, 5 Restaurants & Bars, Spa and Fitness area as well as butler service for every guest, we have created a wonderful foundation for the entire team to create unique guest and team experiences.
To supervise the Dining Room and to ensure that the set service standards are met by all of the Waiters at all times.
To act as a liaison between the Guests and the Chefs and also between the Dining Room Staff and the Galley.
To do additional duties in other departments such as gangway duties, storing, luggage handling etc. as necessary.
To ensure that a five- star service is provided at all times and to deal with Guests complaints and comments in an efficient and timely manner.
Job requirements
General Responsibilities
To act as a liaison between the Guests and the Chefs and also between the Waiters and the Galley.
To oversee the service in assigned station and to ensure that the best possible service is given to the Guests at all times.
To supervise assigned section in the Dining Room and to ensure that the set service standards are met by all of the Waiters at all times.
To create a safe working environment and to ensure that all Waiters comply with the latest Health and Sanitation regulations (HACCP and all other Port Health Authorities) at all times.
To ensure the best possible dining experience for all our Guests and to ensure that special attention is given to Guests with special needs and dietary requirements.
To train, coach, council, support and delegate the Waiters.
To guide the Waiters and to ensure that everyone is updated with relevant shipboard information and that menus are clearly explained to them at all times.
To do additional duties in other departments such as gangway duties, storing, luggage handling etc. as necessary and as scheduled by the Restaurant Manager.
To conduct monthly Performance Appraisals for the Waiters.
To administer and oversee the "Buddy" program for all new Dining Room Staff and to follow up accordingly.
To establish and update the In Port Manning schedule for the Dining Room.
To ensure that any Maintenance issues in Dining Room are reported in a timely manner and that the work orders are followed up on accordingly.
To order, receive and monitor all cutlery, crockery and glassware for Dining Room in conjunction with the Restaurant Manager. To ensure a smooth and efficient service during meal hours through constant communication with the Galley.
To ensure that all Waiters follow uniform guidelines and personal hygiene procedures according Company guidelines.
To ensure that all Waiters Work Registration Forms are completed correctly and handed in to the Restaurant Manager in a timely manner.
To ensure that Waiters' Overtime is submitted to the Restaurant Manager in a timely manner.
To adhere to, and to ensure that the Dining Room Staff adheres to all Company Policies and Procedures, Manuals and Directives.
Other responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Financial Responsibilities
To ensure that crockery and glassware breakages are kept to a minimum.
To assist the Restaurant Manager in monitoring all cutlery, crockery and glassware inventory for the Dining Room.
To assist the Restaurant Manager in controlling the use of cleaning materials, linen and other consumables in the Dining Room and other F&B outlets.
To assist the Restaurant Manager in controlling the overtime for the Waiters according to Budget.
To ensure that Company property is maintained properly and treated with respect at all times.
Safety Responsibilities
To ensure that the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment in the Dining Room work areas is implemented at all times.
To ensure that Safe Lifting Techniques are practiced at all times in the Dining Room.
To do In Port Manning duties as scheduled and as required by Company policy.
Other safety responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Team Education & Training
To ensure that individualized Service Training for Waiters is performed on a regular basis and ensure that these given instructions and methods are followed up accordingly.
Introduction of Job Duties and Departmental functions including continuous on-the-job-training and Safe Lifting Techniques for the Waiters.
Company Basics training and enforcement for the Waiters.
Identification and Development of all Crew members with supervisory potential.
Education/Position Requirements
College Degree/Diploma or Hotel Management School or Successful completion of an Apprenticeship in the Food Service industry required.
Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a luxury international hotel property as an Assistant Restaurant Manager or two (2) years’ experience in the luxury cruise ship industry in a Assistant Restaurant Manager position preferred.
Previous experience as a Senior Waiter in the Crystal Dining Room preferred.
Must be fluent in written and spoken.
Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
Must have very good administrative skills (proficient in Outlook, Word and Excel).
Very good organizational skills are necessary along with the ability to multi-task.
Must possess excellent leadership and human resource management skills and the ability to interact with all levels of people.
Must be able to communicate and implement corrective action steps in an effective, yet diplomatic fashion.

Needs to have an outgoing personality and has to possess a positive attitude, maintaining a friendly and approachable demeanor at all times.
