Job description
The Riverside Mozart is an exceptional phenomenon. As one of the largest river cruise ships on the Danube, and certainly the most well-appointed, she knows – just like her famous namesake – how to captivate and constantly surprise her guests.
With 81 Suites, 5 Restaurants & Bars, Spa and Fitness area as well as butler service for every guest, we have created a wonderful foundation for the entire team to create unique guest and team experiences.
- To oversee the daily operation of assigned Bars and to ensure that assigned public areas are kept clean, neat and tidy at all times.
- To greet Guests in a professional manner, to provide them with prompt, courteous and friendly Beverage service at assigned Bar counters and to provide prompt Beverage service to the service Staff.
- To do additional duties in other departments such as gangway duties, luggage, stores loading etc. as necessary.
- To provide a five-star service to all Guests and to deal with complaints and comments in an efficient and timely manner.
Job requirements
General Responsibilities
- To oversee the daily operation of assigned Bars and to ensure that assigned public areas are kept clean, neat and tidy at all times.
- To greet Guests in a professional manner and to provide them with prompt, courteous and friendly Beverage Service in assigned Bar.
- To provide Beverage service to the service Staff and guests in assigned Bars.
- To monitor and control assigned bar inventory.
- To ensure that assigned Bars are ready for service as per schedule.
- To maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in assigned pantries and Bars (according to schedule and instructions, following HACCP standards at all times).
- To ensure the proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment in Bars and Pantries at all times.
- To follow and execute the Shipboard Sanitation Program and to complete and update all Sanitation Log sheets as per policy.
- To ensure that all equipment is properly and securely stored away when not on duty and to keep assigned area clean and tidy at all times.
- To manage and oversee Bar operation onboard.
- To oversee the wine and beverage service in cooperation with the Sommelier in the Dining Room.
- To monitor the inventory of lockers and to ensure that they are all kept organized, clean and tidy at all times and in accordance to safety rules and regulations.
- To do additional duties in other departments such as gangway duties, luggage, stores loading etc. as necessary.
- To train, coach, council, support and delegate the designated Bar Waiter(s) in assigned Bars.
- To report work orders when deficiencies are noted or when maintenance is required and to follow up on the work orders in a timely manner.
- To adhere to and to ensure that the designated Bar Waiter(s) in assigned Bars adheres to all Company Policies and Procedures, Manuals and Directives.
- To complete a Work Registration Form correctly every month and to submit it to the Restaurant Manager in a timely manner.
- Other responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Financial Responsibilities
- To keep an accurate record of assigned Bars stock and to be held responsible for any losses that may occur.
- To be cost conscious with the use of cleaning materials, linen and other consumables.
- To ensure promotion of Bar sales in assigned Bars.
- To ensure that Guests sign their checks for items on the Connoisseur List and that the checks are made out to the correct Suites.
- To ensure that Company property is maintained properly and treated with respect at all times.
Safety Responsibilities
- To ensure that the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment in the work areas is implemented at all times.
- To ensure that Safe Lifting Techniques are practiced at all times.
- To do In Port Manning duties as scheduled and as required by Company policy.
- To ensure that all equipment is properly and securely stored away when not on duty.
- Emergency Duties:
- To follow instructions on Safety.
- To participate in Safety Drills as per instructions.
- Other safety responsibilities, as assigned, but not limited to the above.
Team Education & Training
- Introduction of Job Duties and Departmental functions including continuous on-the-job-training and Safe Lifting Techniques for Bar Waiter(s) in assigned Bars.
Education/Position Requirements
- College Degree/Diploma or other relevant apprenticeship in the food service industry required.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a luxury international property hotel or two (2) years in the luxury cruise ship industry preferred.
- Must have previous Barkeeper.
- Must be fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills.
- Very good organizational skills are necessary along with the ability to multi-task.
- Very good knowledge in food and Beverage service and procedures.
- Good communication skills.
- Good product and beverage knowledge.
- Must have very good organizational skills and show attention to detail.
- Must undergo onboard HACCP training.
- Must have initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Must be able to remain calm under pressure.
- Must be service minded with an outgoing, charming and friendly personality
Team Communication and Meetings
- To attend daily meetings with the Dining Room Staff.
- To constantly communicate with the Restaurant Manager.
- To encourage and demonstrate good communication, excellent teamwork and continuous training, coaching and counseling.
